Brit Cup 2012
The 2012 Brit Cup was hosted by the Reading Kangaroos on Saturday 7th July. Featuring fix top quality teams from across Great Britain the standard of play throughout the day was excellent. The winners of the Grand Final were the WARFL Red Devils who are made up of the members of the Welsh Aussie Rules Football League. They were deserving winners and a credit to all involved in Aussie Rules in Wales.
With no Australians allowed to play it was a great opportunity to see some of the best British talent to go head to head and for some of the less experienced players to get a taste of top quality football.
AFL Central and Northern England supplied two teams: the Midlands Tigers with representatives from Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Nottingham; and the Northern Warriors with representatives from Sheffield, Huddersfield and Manchester.
Both teams did themselves credit on the day. The Northern Warriors struggled in some of the games but still managed to be the only team to defeat the Red Devils. The Midlands Tigers had a fantastic day and made it to the final against WARFL. Unfortunately they went down in the final but still had a successful day.
