Round 8 Action

The Huddersfield Rams hosted the third and final 2012 League Lightning Round. The day was a fantastic success for both the Rams and for the league.

With some special guests by the way of Lord Mayor of Kirklees – Councillor David Ridgway and Grosvenor Casino Huddersfield’s General Manager – John Fordham, the day was a perfect showcase of Aussie Rules football.

The Rams competed in what was the match of the day, a tightly fought contest against the Wolves in what was an early battle for 4th place. Unfortunately for the Rams they went down by 11 points – reversing the previous result between these two teams at this ground.

The top 2 clash between Manchester and Nottingham lived up to it’s billing with a top quality game going down to the wire. The Mozzies held off the fast-finishing Scorpions to win by 8 points. With Nottingham missing a few key players the undefeated Mozzies are definitely no certainties for the premiership yet.

This round’s games see Wolverhampton take on Manchester at Wolverhampton. A win to the Wolves would almost guarantee them a finals berth. Leeds have a chance to keep their flickering finals hopes alive when they take on Nottingham at Tyne Tees. And Huddersfield have the chance to jump into 3rd position with a game against Sheffield, also at Tyne Tees.
