ABOUT THE LEAGUE
AFL Central and Northern England is an Australian Rules football league which includes seven teams from Birmingham in the south to Newcastle in the north.
Formed in 2010 as the Central and North West League, the growth of the league has been considerable. Originally consisting of Huddersfield, Nottingham, Sheffield and Manchester. The league now includes Wolverhampton, Merseyside and Tyne Tees.
Games are played on converted rugby pitches. Each team consists of 9 players on the field with up to an additional 7 players on the bench. The season begins in the third week of April and concludes in the last week of July.
AFL Central and Northern England is the largest UK league outside of London. The league has been a phenomenal success supplying the bulk of the Great Britain Bulldogs side for the International Cup. As a testament to the quality of football in the Central and Northern England League two of its former players have recently been signed up by VFL teams in Australia.
New players are always welcome. No prior football experience is required, it can all be taught at training.
